It doesn't take much to get the internet started on something. This time all it took was a lone alphabetic letter to get Twitter all aflutter.
It was the cryptic nature of British Home Secretary Sajid Javid's tweeted "I" that attracted the musings of so many. In a swift tweet storm of proffered song lyrics, Twitter users answered Javid's apparent (booty) call.
Was Javid wrestling with issues of his very existence, like Descartes? Or did he simply need someone to help him remember the rest of the song...
Javid unknowingly tweeted:
And Twitter replied:
Was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, when I met you— simon coxon (@simon_coxon) July 15, 2018
.. feel pretty— Mr Disley (@CarlDisley) July 15, 2018
Oh, so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me tonight
But what did it mean? Was he suffering an identity crisis?
Was there something he wanted?
Finally, nearly 15 minutes later, the interwebs had an answer—Javid filled in the blanks on his unfinished thought and updated the world on the why of his "I."
The emoji says it all—well played, sir, well played.
