Bananas are a pretty innocuous thing, right? So it was only a matter of time until the internet found a way to turn them into something to fear.
Twitter user Kevin Beigel (@kbiegel) shared a secret he happened upon. One that, if used properly, will scare the living daylights out of the next person that thinks they’re bringing home an innocent bunch of bananas.
Over the series of images, @kbiegel shows what happens when you scratch a message into a banana peel with your fingernails. The product is pure horror genius, a darkened message that seems to appear over time.
His example was dastardly, having written “I know what you did” on his sample banana. Ghost bananas will certainly be the new craze, especially considering how well Twitter responded to Mr. Biegel’s discovery.
I am absolutely going to start doing this. I need ideas of short things to write....— Helen Kennedy (@HelenKennedy) July 5, 2018
Some believe there may be a new use for bananas on the horizon.
For the most part, however, most of the responses were suggested messages. And just about all of them are pure gold.
...oh man...my 10 yr old is gonna get trolled with this!— Bunnyfufu84 (@Bunnyfufu84) July 5, 2018
“I see you”
“I’m watching you”
“I’m behind you”

Sentient bananas will be a thing of the future, that’s for sure, making you feel terrible for skinning them alive.
But what if the banana decides to fight back?
As one Twitter user points out, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a horrifying or threatening message. Maybe bananas can be an inspirational start to the day.
I love this! Except I want to scratch things like "You are beautiful" and "You can do it!"— Kristin Rix (@KristinRix) July 5, 2018
Or provide suggestions for a (much) better future.
It appears word has gotten around already. The banana madness is starting.
Don’t worry, though. Somebody had to come along and ruin all the fun.
Injecting bacteria into market food with a razor blade seems very dangerous to me. Some people have health weakness and that kind of bacteria could hurt them a lot, even kill them.— Belgianfred (@belgianfred) July 5, 2018
