The confetti has settled after Aquaria was crowned winner of RuPaul's Drag Race's tenth season, but the cattiness is far from ovah.
On Tuesday, the final four contestants of Drag Race attended VH1's Trailblazer Honors where pop singer Bebe Rexha was performing. Later, the singer was miffed when the drag queens failed to recognize her out of makeup and tweeted "they were COLD af."
I met some of the contestants from ru Pauls drag race and I wasn’t in Hair and Makeup so they didn’t know it was me and they were COLD af.— Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) July 3, 2018
The funny thing is they actually presented my performance. But ladies it doesn’t take much to be nice. Eureka was the only one to hug me. 💅🏼— Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) July 3, 2018
To prevent stiletto heels from puncturing eye sockets between embittered sisters, Aquaria addressed Bebe's tweet with a quick apology, claiming she was too "mushy brained" to notice the "Meant To Be" singer.
I totally was so mushy brained that I didn’t realize until it was too late but lady you sounded INCREDIBLE in ur performances and I am living for the new album!!! Congrats and we need a picture next time! ❤️❤️❤️— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
Aquaria set the record straight on behalf of her squad that they don't consider themselves above anyone. They've experienced a whirlwind of a week with a never-ending press junket and were just recuperating from all of the excitement.
But in a separate thread, she dished on the media twisting their little spat.
See and the thing is because miss Bebe tried to read and then backpedalled and got cute, new outlets and whatnot are talking about how she “exposed the top four” when in reality she just exposed that we couldn’t recognize her. Now there’s nasty headlines about us.— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
Actually no, too vague. If you’ve ever met any of the 4 of us you’d know we don’t think we’re the shit or anything of that sort. We’re really just artists who were being swept through a crazy week in our lives where we nearly had a second to take things in. I was actually very— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
Grateful to have been invited to such a special event to honor some of the most positive influences on our community but also have/had so many things going through my head. Asia literaly couldn’t see shit because her face was covered and sometimes Kameron allegedly doesn’t say hi— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
But that’s okay too! I don’t think any of us would intend to be rude or shady to any other performer and if people knew anything about us it’s that we are far more humble and real than anyone else would expect. Instead of being grateful and enjoying the night— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
While drag queens are known for their candor and outrageous personas on stage, Aquaria let it be known that she remains respectful towards other performers.
We’re now on twitter complaining about the same thing everyone always tries to pit on drag queens that we’re stuck up bitches who don’t have time for the people who enjoy our work. We were all so impressed with the performances at the trailblazers and so grateful to be included.— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
Plenty of people won’t recognize us out of drag and I always used to witness this personally so I understand how miss Bebe may have felt but we aren’t nasty bitches. Did VH1 ask our clown asses to perform? Absolutely not. So you win. I was actually very happy to meet you and— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
Introduce u & really enjoyed your performance as well as the beautiful choir that was singing with you. Stop tryna do whatever Nicki Minaj is talking about and jumpin online and making us the bad guys. We love u babe. The kids love u. We’re not trying to be stuck up and rude— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
It all boils down to Bebe being hurt. She just wanted to be loved.
It was an honest mistakem and even though both parties cleared the air, Aquaria was slightly irked and called out Bebe for her publicized gripe on the Internet.
No she didn’t say “hi I’m Bebe” but she did jump up very excited to see us and I do particularly remember giving her a small hug because I was the first person she said hi to. That’s why it took me a second to realize. This was also before we knew who was performing that eve too— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 3, 2018
I’m actually still kind of upset because as a queer artist and a drag queen I don’t ever foresee myself seeing the fame and being booked in the same spaces as more mainstream straight acts at any point in my career so for one to come from left field and try to drag me and my— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 4, 2018
Sisters for something that was clearly a misunderstanding and then to tell us how busy ur schedule is and how much we owe you to not be cold... I’m allowed to be mad about that. And then to publicize ur “hurt” to the millions of fans we will never have the opportunity of having?— Aquaria (@aquariaofficial) July 4, 2018
Others had Aquaria's back – including Courtney Conquers, a drag artist from Ottawa, Canada.
All 4 of you are good, polite people who don’t treat those around you with an ounce of disrespect. As a public person whose tiniest actions are ALSO under increased scrutiny, Bebe should know better than to judge like this. Hell, I wouldn’t recognize her IN hair/makeup 🤷🏻♀️— Courtney Conquers (@courtneyconquer) July 3, 2018
I would be upset too. Not only does it make your careers seem lesser, if she had a problem with the way you guys acted she could have found a way to contact your management or any of you instead of addressing it publicly for the world to see— Harlo 👑 (@aquarialegend) July 4, 2018
Imagine being so stuck on yourself that if someone you've never met doesn't gush over you, you think they're being rude and cold to you.— ʟᴜᴍᴀʀɪᴀ (@lumaria) July 3, 2018
Not speaking to people or not hugging people is not rude. Purposely ignoring, yes. Simply not speaking? No. She got angry because they didn't fuss over her and then whined on social media instead of talking to them about it. Petty.— ʟᴜᴍᴀʀɪᴀ (@lumaria) July 3, 2018
She should have spoken then! drag race season JUST ended they have a lot of attention on them and shit to do they’re at work at the end of the day! Who cares if they didn’t recognise Bebe what’s her name she wouldn’t have recognised them out of drag?— Courtney Carey (@fuckbalmain) July 4, 2018
But the ever so affable Eureka O'Hara wanted to make sure all was well at the end.
I’m so obsessed with you and you were so gorgeous. I def don’t think that was intentional and I’m surprised you felt We was cold af lol I’m jolly like Santa. We love you for realz. We were in such a press frenzy im sure you understand. Buying your new stuff daily!!— Eureka! The 🐘👑 (@eurekaohara) July 3, 2018
