John Oliver Just Trolled Mike Pence With A New Children's Book About A Gay Bunny

On the Sunday March 18 episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the host dug into Vice President Mike Pence, the only member of the Trump administration who constitutionally cannot be fired. While Oliver has many issues with the former governor of Indiana, he focused on his bigoted relationship with the LGBTQ community. Though that topic leaves plenty to unpack, Oliver also said that, before the segment ended, he would say something nice about Pence — a promise he most certainly kept.

It turns out Oliver's favorite thing about Mike Pence is his adorable family rabbit, Marlon Bundo. Pence and his wife happen to be publishing a children's story called Marlon Bundo's Day in the Life of the Vice President. What they probably didn't see coming was a competing book, published by John Oliver, also about the BOTUS (Bunny of the United States).

Oliver's version of Marlon Bundo is a little different from Pence's. He happens to be wearing a bow-tie, and he's gay.

By Monday, Oliver's story of a gay bunny who falls in love with another boy bunny was the #1 bestseller on Amazon.

All the proceeds from Marlon Bundo's adventure are being donated to The Trevor Project and AIDS United, which both do amazing work supporting the LGBTQ community in the United States.

If that doesn't persuade you to buy the book, Oliver cites another important reason:

Selling more books than Pence will probably really piss him off.

The audiobook version of Marlon Bundo's adventure features a star-studded cast including Jim Parsons, Jesse Tyler Fergusson, John Lithgow, Ellie Kemper, Jeff Garlin, Jack MacBrayer, and RuPaul!

How can we resist? We can't.

On Monday, Pence's Bundo tale was lagging behind at #6 on Amazon's bestseller list.
