McDonald's Tries To Pander To The Youth With Bizarre Meme—And Fails Spectacularly
Updated 3 months ago

Have you ever been in a bar and watched that middle-aged drunk woman on vacation with her beige shorts, Crocs, and fanny pack trying to get the young people to dance to "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves?

This is worse.

In what appears to be a desperate attempt to "relate" to the youngsters, McDonald's UK sent out a tweet that we can only guess was supposed to be a riff on the "barber/say no more" meme. We can't really explain it, so have a look:

Yeah, we don't get it, and neither did most people on Twitter:

Our hearts went out to poor Barry, who claimed to be new to the interwebs:

This nice lad tried to explain:

Poor McDonald's. We understand how hard it is to keep up with the kids. Trends move so fast, and just when you think you've figured one out, it changes. The barber meme is ancient by internet standards — it dates all the way back to 2015.

And Twitter won't ever let you live this down, Mickey Dees:

Right Deals UK took pity on McDonald's and fixed the meme for them.

And what if Wendy's gets wind of this? The girl with the pigtails is a pro at trolling the golden arches, along with Burger King and others:

See McDonald's? That's what the kids want these days.
