For those of you not up to speed on the ever-changing world of popular memes, a random quote from the show Riverdale has spawned a makeover meme sensation in China.
We could try to explain it, but it's probably easier to let you watch for yourself:
Get the idea? It seems fun, but also like a lot of production work. There's a soundtrack. There's slow-mo. There's a cut in there. This requires some planning! So what happens when Hollywood celebs give it a try?
Ask Busy Philipps:
Tonight my goal after my kids are asleep is to figure out how to do that Chinese "karma's a bitch" meme and do it!— Busy Philipps (@BusyPhilipps) January 28, 2018
I've been trying to do the meme and it's really difficult- but I'm almost there!!!— Busy Philipps (@BusyPhilipps) January 28, 2018
Fast forward a few hours...
Her fans were feeling it:
I had no idea what this was and then just spent watching this and the ones from China. I’m not sure how I could pull this off. Great job!— Linda (@SkinnyDiva) January 28, 2018
Of course there were critics. There are always critics:
Ok you did the scarf thing great but the sound was terrible! And Kelly is barely squeezed in the frame Do over!— Amanda (@Mayafan2014) January 28, 2018
I am glad my woman doesn't need a makeover with 5 lbs of makeup to be "beautiful."— Christian Taylor (@Chevauchees) January 28, 2018
But Philipps isn't worried about the haters. She had a good time with a friend and nobody got hurt.
Oh, and as for those bloopers? She's not showing , but she's certainly telling.
