Adam Rippon, the 2010 Four Continents champion and 2016 U.S. national champion, will represent U.S. men's figure skating at the 2018 Olympics in South Korea. Rippon is likely the first openly gay U.S. Winter Olympian, and he recently had some strong words for Vice President Mike Pence, who will lead the U.S. delegation.
On Tuesday, Rippon told USA TODAY Sports:
I don’t think he has a real concept of reality. To stand by some of the things that Donald Trump has said and for Mike Pence to say he’s a devout Christian man is completely contradictory. If he’s okay with what’s being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries that are being called ‘shitholes,' I think he should really go to church.
But on Friday, Rippon seemed to be in better spirits when he tweeted a GIF of himself sporting a serious face while getting his groove on.
Fans were quick to share their own moods via GIFs.
Many of Rippon's fans appreciated the mix of fierce and playful.
Others simply expressed their gratitude for Rippon's contributions to the world.
You are bringing life to that olympic competition, peobably freeing up many of the other skaters who have to control everything. So many competitors show so little emotion, never seen them like happy dancing, getting in the groove, just crying after skating.
