Michelangelo is, according to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, "a towering genius in the history of Western art."
Michelangelo is also, according to the opening theme song of his hit cartoon show, "a party dude."
One of these things is not like the other.
The Met has been hosting an exhibit centered around Renaissance master Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni.
According to the exhibit's official page:
This exhibition presents a stunning range and number of works by the artist: 133 of his drawings, three of his marble sculptures, his earliest painting, his wood architectural model for a chapel vault, as well as a substantial body of complementary works by other artists for comparison and context.
So, naturally, they invited a Ninja Turtle to the exhibit and to get in touch with his artistic roots.
Fans of Mikey's party-all-the-time attitude loved seeing him reflect on some beautiful art.
My museum-and-TMNT-loving 4 year olds just lost their minds when I showed them this. Could you here the excited shrieks all the way from Atlanta?— EJ Justice 🧠⚡💥 (@SynapseCrackle) January 25, 2018
The "Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman & Designer" exhibit is open until February 12, 2018.
