TV Dating Show Contestant Gets His Heart Smashed By Woman's Confession—And It's Awful

TV Dating Show Contestant Gets His Heart Smashed By Woman's Confession—And It's Awful
Updated 4 months ago

Reality dating shows can be harsh, as contestants often put their hearts on the line only to be brutally shut down by potential love interests. One contestant on the U.K. version of Take Me Out recently learned this the hard way after a woman he went on a date with made a horrible confession.

For those who have never seen the show, contestants attempt to find their perfect match among a slew of candidates. If those candidates become uninterested as the contestant reveals more about themselves, they turn off their lights, eventually whittling down the field to just one match. But if everyone turns off their lights, then it's considered a "blackout" and the contestant goes home with their chance at love extinguished.

Phil, a magician, was lucky enough that one woman, Bella, kept her light on. Yay, Phil!

But in an excruciating moment during their date, Bella confessed she'd left her light on accidentally:

That was not exactly the confession Phil was looking for.

Twitter was understandably horrified on Phil's behalf:

It reminded some people of when Lisa broke poor Ralph's heart:

There's such a fine line between brutal honesty and... just brutal:

And after one Twitter user expressed sympathy, even Phil responded:

At least he's looking on the bright side. Who knows what tomorrow might bring?

Here's hoping that his unexpected celebrity will help cast an even wider net to help Phil find his true love.
