Man Tweets Bizarre Old Food Advertisement And People Have Some Issues

Food changed after WWII. As the war raged on across the ocean, food shortages in America led to the creation of processed food. With the war over, the glamour and space driven race of the 1950's, brought in a new era of  convenience. Cook books started introducing recipes with new ingredients like margarine, canned vegetables and boxed cake mixes.  It was all about canned and frozen food.

Along with the changes in the way food was processed, the 50's saw an explosion in new advertising. With men back from the war and women back in the kitchen, manufacturers of processed foods often included recipes in their ads to cater to the busy housewife. Not all the recipes held up over time.

Television producer (The Simpsons, Futurama),  Bill Oakley  posted a vintage ad for A&P beans and the recipe left a lot to be desired.

Onions stuffed with baked beans and ketchup?

And who is this elusive "Inner Man"?

Not everyone turned their... er... nose up at the ad.

For everyone else they'd leave the inner man and his beans in the past.

Like most of us, Matt is just looking for love. If onions and beans come with it, all the better!

Almost makes you want to prepare a home cooked meal and cover it in ketchup. Almost.
