Girl Includes List Of Rules With Gift She Got Her Boyfriend—It Didn't Work
4 months ago

You might get somebody something cool for the holidays, but attaching a bunch of rules to a gift isn't necessarily a guarantee.

Take University of Oklahoma students Ashley and Blake. Ashley wanted to give Blake a rad new Xbox game to feed his hobby, but didn't want the acquisition of a much-anticipated game to consume his life. She therefore attached a number of stipulations in the expectation that they would be respected,  to wit:

1. If I call you must pause the game and talk to me with full attention.

2. No starting another match if we are planning to hang out or I ask to hang out.

3. You must ask if it is okay for you to play while I am over at your house with you. Make sure I have something to do while you are in battle.

4. You must reply to a text no longer than 11 minutes.

5. Do not forget to give me just as much attention.

Some of these are pretty fair - nobody wants to feel ignored, and things can indeed be kind of a drag for the loved ones of those 'in battle'. Not sure where she came up with the 11 minute timer for text replies, but whatevs, it's a kindly contract that basically says, "don't blow off our relationship for the sake of leveling up or what have you."

Thing is, it didn't stop there. Onward came another clause, which had a line for a signature and everything:

"I, Blake Perry, will follow these rules and in return, I will be enjoying my new game and loving my girlfriend at the same time. But if I do not follow these rules my girlfriend, Ashley Davison, can take this game away from me at anytime for the rest of my life. So I will follow these rules and not forget about my girlfriend."

There it is, all spelled out. One game for one "not bailing on your GF". Blake decided to share the contract online, along with his own commentary:

"Little does she know" was eight thousand retweets ago, fella. We're sure she knows by now. After the tweet blew up, there were the supporters:

As  well as the detractors, whose counter arguments were a bit more in depth.

There was so much traction that our star crossed lovers eventually came clean - this was all for fun, and people can take things so seriously.

A week later, folks checked back in. It went how you think.

To young love. And, apparently, the M1 Garand.
