Although "dim" might be the first word that comes to some people's minds when thinking of Piers Morgan, for the first time in recent memory it really wasn't his fault. The oft-maligned TV personality was slated to ring in the Christmas season at a tree lighting ceremony in Stockbridge, Hampshire, on Monday, but when it came time to shine, the lights were a no show. Adding insult to injury, the non-event was carried live on ITV Meridian and broadcast to most of South East England.
I'll be turning on the lights at home on Sunday Piers. You are very welcome to attend.— Steven Rafferty (@steveraff55) November 30, 2017
Poor Stockbridge, that’s worse than the picking of celebs for this years jungle show 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣— Gaza (@GaryB2015) November 30, 2017
Thanks for the warning. I’ll make sure I’m busy tidying my knicker draw then. 😱— Laura Harcourt (@LJRHW) November 30, 2017
I do hope that the people Stockbridge are ok and get through tomorrow safe and sound— Sir Tom Lohmus (@bigtom1982) November 30, 2017
I’ve got very good friends in Stockbridge. I know whodunnit...— Mark Pougatch (@markpougatch) December 1, 2017
Editorial note: An earlier version of this article referred to Piers Morgan as a "TV personality." We regret having implied Piers Morgan has a personality.
