On a recent visit to The Late Late Show with James Corden, Josh Hutcherson told a story he had kept under wraps for years. After his experience working on Future Man, Hutcherson finally felt ready to share a secret from one of his first acting roles, the main character of The Polar Express.
It was motion capture so we had these dots on our face and these weird wetsuit things. It’s very, very odd experience. ... I was shooting this scene with Tom Hanks, the father of the world. And we’re shooting this scene where he’s playing the hobo and he’s on top of the train and he's like skiing down and I’m like nestled in under him, and we're like, ‘Whoa this is crazy.’ And I was like... I farted.
Instead of playing it cool, Tom Hanks was like, ‘Whoa whoa, Oh my God, this kid — What the heck? Oh my God!’
It was a rite of passage I feel and he did in good humor. Looking back on it, it was very funny. But at that moment I thought my face was going to start sweating blood.
