The Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most iconic landmarks. For many, it's image is synonymous with Australia, and the city of Sydney itself.

On Thursday, the building celebrated it's 44th anniversary.

Queen Elizabeth herself opened the music hall:

This is the perfect time to be thankful for the Sydney Opera House, because, as it turns out, the designs that ALMOST got chosen left a lot to be desired.
