The NFL wasted no time in reprimanding Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with a $12,154 fine for his touchdown celebration in a game against the Eagles Sunday.
It seems Beckham is a repeat offender and is no stranger to the penalty phase of the game.
Odell Beckham was fined $12,154 for his peeing-dog celebration on Sunday against the Eagles. ... Honestly, I thought it would be more.— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) September 29, 2017
Odell Beckham has now been fined $139,311 since the start of last season -- $221,546 for his career (and those are the ones we know about).— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) September 29, 2017
All athletes have their own special celebratory ritual. This one has left some puzzled, especially owner John Mara, who is said to be peeved with his star receiver. In a meeting this week Beckham said he regretted the penalty but not necessarily his actions. He also said:
I'm a dog, so I acted like a dog, I don't know if the rulebook said you can't hike your leg. I peed on somebody, so I was trying to find the imaginary ghost that I peed on. But I didn't see him.
Hopefully his next celebration doesn't pay tribute to Uranus...— McCaffrey Mob (@RobGuy3) September 29, 2017
Odell gets fined for celebrating but Malcom Jenkins clotheslined the hell out of him and got nothing— OBtJesus vert (@Tje5u5) September 29, 2017
Damn Odell had to pay 12k for that dog celebration? I thought the NFL loved dogs! At least they made it seem that way against Vick!— Frank Rivers (@FrankRivers_6) September 29, 2017
We'll see how much money is too much for Beckham to be allowed to lift his leg as he pleases.
