Maybe it's the food, or the cramped seating, but this monkey had enough when he decided to escape after his flight on American Airlines. Haven't we all been there before, when you just want to scream, "Let me off this plane!"
Dawkins, a rhesus macaque, managed to escape his cage and remain on the loose for two hours at San Antonio International Airport. He was eventually tranquilized and put back in a the cage. His final destination was the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary in La Salle County.
According to the sanctuary, Dawkins is doing well after his two hour standoff.
We are aware that there are news reports ab a primate loose at the San Antonio Airport. It is Dawkins, who was scheduled to arrive at our Sanctuary today. We are working with authorities to keep the situation under control & to make sure Dawkins arrives at the Sanctuary ASAP.— BornFreeUSA (@BornFreeUSA) May 21, 2018
UPDATE ON DAWKINS: Dawkins has arrived, safe and sound, at our Primate Sanctuary! The stress of his journey and brief escape at the airport has tired him, but he is doing well. Thank you to everyone for your support and concern. We will post additional updates tomorrow.— BornFreeUSA (@BornFreeUSA) May 22, 2018
Dawkins did well during this first night at our #Primate Sanctuary and is slowly getting accustomed to his new enclosure, which includes many natural elements - like grass - that he never encountered before. Stay tuned for additional updates on Dawkins later today!— BornFreeUSA (@BornFreeUSA) May 22, 2018
We are happy Dawkins is doing well, but his shenanigans certainly made for some entertaining news.
