The Sharknado franchise has released five films since the original debuted in 2013, and a sixth and final film is ending the series this summer. The action-comedies have stuck with the same concept of a shark-infested tornado traveling toward different cities. Aside from being a strange concept, the famous franchise has become known for having a thin and bizarre plot — and somehow this spoof surpasses that.
The Late Late Show With James Corden decided to put an interesting spin on the series, previewing a movie that doesn't (and won't ever) exist about a tornado made up of Shaquille O'Neals — appropriately called Shaqnado.
Starring Shaquille O'Neal, naturally, along with Victoria Beckham and James Corden, this movie is (not actually) bringing a hilarious but completely unexpected trio to the silver screen. Corden and Beckham, also known as Dr. Poshowitz, are seen dropping dozens of basketballs out of a helicopter, straight into the eye of the tornado to put an end to it once and for all.
After all, as Corden said, "The only way to defeat the Shaqnado is to make it shoot a free throw!"
People are totally into it, as weird a concept as it might be:
And of course people appreciated the tribute to Posh Spice:
Watch out for a tornado of basketball players. Strange warning, isn't it? Shaq might have a single line up until the final scene, but he makes a lasting impression despite that.
