Meghan Markle might be the newest addition to the royal family, but could a certain sci-fi hero be stealing her spotlight?
Mark Hamill, a.k.a. Luke Skywalker, is doing all he can to make that happen. He appeared on a recent episode of The View and told Sara Haines, Meghan McCain, and Whoopi Goldberg, along with the audience, about meeting Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Star Wars actor had requested his character be addressed as a royal but his costar, Carrie Fisher, denied him. Rather than argue, Hamill decided to wait and solicit approval from the princes.
Hamill said on The View:
When I got my chance to talk to them, I said ‘Your highness, I would like to make a case for myself. My father was Lord Vader, my mother was Queen Amidala, my sister was Princess Leia — doesn’t that make me royalty?'
And according to Hamill, William responded with a quick “Absolutely, I don’t see why not.”
Princess Leia would have ultimately wanted him to be given a royal title. Right?
Everyone agreed that he is, in fact, royalty:
Twitter also made a meme of the royal debate, because of course it did:
Hamill was interrupted before he could finish telling the tale, which left some people itching for a proper ending.
What objections did Prince Harry have? What was he going to say? Guess we'll never know.
Would have been nice if she had let you finish what you were saying. What DID prince Harry say? You will always be royalty to us x— ann kilpatrick (@dmaragr) March 27, 2018
Why did whoever that is interrupt him? I would like to know Prince Harry's objection!— Corey Vinson (@tcoreyvinson) March 27, 2018
Prince Luke? King Mark? As far as fans are concerned, he has always been royal:
Mark, you inspired us as Luke Skywalker starting in 1977, and I think now what you choose to share with us as Mark Hamill living his life is even more playful, fun, and joyful. Thank you for the gift of you, your humor and your talent. And really mostly for you.— Christie Golden (@ChristieGolden) March 27, 2018
