Phedre Fitton battled cancer for five years, but she didn't let it take away her sense of humor. Shortly before she passed away in 2013, Phedre asked her husband, Nigel Fitton, to make sure he continued to water the plants she kept in the bathroom after she was gone.
The loving husband, faithfully honored his wife's request for years. Recently he moved into a retirement community. In the packing up, it was noticed that the plants he had been doting on, were in fact plastic.
Well played, Phedre, Well played.
The couple's daughter, Antonia Nicol, a firefighter living in London, shared the story on Twitter, much to her father's delight.
Before my mum passed away, she gave my dad strict instructions to water the plants in the bathroom. He's been religiously watering them & keeping them alive. They look so amazing he decided to take them to his new home, only to discover they are plastic! Can hear my mum chuckling pic.twitter.com/N87giD5zKT— Antonia Nicol (@Flaminhaystack) January 16, 2018
Twitter loved this story, and Phedre's wicked sense of humor.
Your mum sounds like a scream! Sorry for your loss but happy you had such a wonderful parent.— Kit Caless (@KitCaless) January 16, 2018

Many could relate to the humor and the fake plants.

As for Nigel, he is loving that his wife's sense of humor is entertaining so many.
He said that the lovely responses have brought a tear to his eye. It's been really lovely for him to remember her like this x— Antonia Nicol (@Flaminhaystack) January 18, 2018
