Addiction is an unrelenting beast and unfortunately for Aaron Carter his battle with that beast has played out in front of the eyes of millions.
Over this past several years Mr. Carter's substance abuse issues led him into some dark places. He also admitted openly after years of secrecy to being bisexual, and has discussed much of his family discourse and tragedy that played a monumental part in his downfall.
After his letter went viral People magazine with Carter’s publicist confirmed his decision to seek treatment.
“Aaron has decided to enter a facility to improve his health and work on his overall wellness,” Steve Honig, the singer’s rep, told People. “He is going to do this privately and focus all his attention on being the best person and performer possible. He is grateful for the support and love from his fans and looks forward to coming back stronger than ever before.”
The singer was met with a wave of support from fans.
It’s sad that you’ll leave for a while but I understand, and I’ll always support you no matter what. Take good care of yourself!— lulu Geng (@alwayslulu) September 23, 2017
He has left the public with hope for the future. He plans to beat his demons and announced plans for new music. And as a gift to his fans he is also re-releasing a special new version of his signature hit 'I Want Candy.'
Good luck and best wishes Aaron. You got this!
