Macron Shades Trump Over G-7: "We Don't Mind Being 6"

It would seem the strange "bromance" with all it's extended hand-holding and tree-planting between French President Emmanuel Macron and President Trump is O.V.E.R. Macron is making new friends and they don't want to play with the Donald.

On a recent trip to Canada, where the French President met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Macron threw some serious shade at Trump's isolationist trade policies, saying:

The six countries of the G-7 without the United States are a bigger market taken together than the American market. There will be no world hegemony if we know how to organize ourselves. And we don’t want there to be one.
Maybe the American president doesn’t care about being isolated today, but we don’t mind being six, if needs be.

For his part, there's no love lost between Trudeau and Trump. The Canadian Prime Minister commented that the tariffs were unacceptable and added:

[The new taxes are] an affront to the long-standing security partnership between Canada and the United States, and in particular to the thousands of Canadians who have fought and died alongside American comrades-in-arms.

Macron certainly wasn't holding back his feelings when he shot in:

These six represent values, represent an economic market, and more than anything represent a real force at the international level today.

Ouch!
