GOP Congressman Trey Gowdy Just Slammed His Own Party, And Himself
2 months ago

Trey Gowdy, a Republican Congressman from South Carolina will be joining 37 other House Republican who have announced they won't be running for reelection. Gowdy sat down with Vice News' Michael Moynihan and spoke some truth about the Republican party. Gowdy also made it clear that he is not happy and is counting down the days until he can leave his position.

Talking about his position for the last seven years, Gowdy didn't seem to impressed, saying:

To the extent men judge themselves based on what they do for a living, I don't have a lot to show for the last seven years.  We've convinced ourselves that we have to win, because the country will go to Hades in a handbasket if my team doesn't win.

He blames this way of thinking for causing the government to stagnate resulting in nothing getting done.

It also seems he can't wait for it to all be over:

I can tell you right now I have 19 more drives to the airport before this session is over. Nineteen more weeks for the rest of the year that I'm going to be gone three or four days away from home, and then after that I'll be in South Carolina.

You can watch the interview below.

It goes without saying, there were a ton of mixed reactions.

Some people thought this was a breakthrough moment.

Although many weren't buying it.

Some felt the congressman was being sincere.

We'll have to wait and see what Gowdy's next move is.
