In the hours following the shooting at the YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California, Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter to show his true colors by using the tragedy to attack liberals.
Following in his father's footsteps to stir controversy and push talking points, Trump Jr. tweeted the following:
The combative tweet is all the more useless considering the shooters social media accounts, including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram were all pulled within hours of the information coming forward. One needs to know who the shooter is before one can pull an account, right?
The people, fed up with this polarizing nonsense were quick to shut Jr. down.
If you were more than just a one celled organism, you would have known enough to at least Google this and find out immediately that yes, that's exactly what they do. Google will also tell you that the NRA promotes gun use, which often causes DEATH, and PETA promotes animal LIFE.— Lesley Abravanel (@lesleyabravanel) April 4, 2018
Considering social media always pulls the accounts of mass shooters, yes. Take a seat dear.— Nasty Women-taking back our country. (@58isthenew40) April 4, 2018
this doesn’t make any sense . next time just say “liberals are bad and the nra is good” you don’t need to tax your brain trying to weave it into the current news cycle because you failed miserably— TRILLIONAIRE💰 (@maltyhops) April 4, 2018
Actually all her YouTube videos were taken down. I read that in the highly respected and ferociously honest Washington Post.— Tom Woods (@realdramaimp) April 4, 2018
Not only was Jr.'s statement incorrect, people thought it was tacky and in poor taste.
Three people were just shot and the President's son is railing against Vegans on Twitter...— Breetbort (@Breetbort) April 4, 2018
This celebration you are having over a shooting is in rather poor taste Donny.— Bob Elbow (@BobElbow) April 4, 2018
Never seen anyone so excited about people getting shot! Sad!— Michael Coleman (@sacmike) April 4, 2018
One user had a suggestion for Jr. and all others who love their guns.
Others pointed out the problem wasn't social media, but the actual gun used to kill people.
The problem is the ready access to guns, you chinless twit.— #Notonemore (@mblaustein33) April 4, 2018
There were also some rhetorical questions thrown back.
Weren’t you supposed to be in charge of the business and stay out of politics so there’s even the appearance of not having conflicts of interest? You are making the emoluments case against your monster father even stronger— Andee 🇺🇸#Boycott NRA 🚫 (@AndeeD) April 4, 2018
Are you saying that people who protect animals (rather than eating them or just shooting them for fun, like you) are just as dangerous as people who are engage in mass shootings?— Earl P. Bass (@EarlPBass) April 4, 2018
You know, just asking for a friend.
