Melania and Ivanka Trump each posted to Twitter with messages of celebration for International Women's Day. It didn't go well for either. Both women were called out for what people saw as their hypocritical stance in continuing to support Donald Trump after 19 women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against the President.
The irritation directed at Ivanka seems to come from her taking an official role as adviser to the President, but refusing to answer questions about his past behavior because she claims it's inappropriate to ask her about her father.
With Melania, folks are taking issue with her silence regarding Donald Trump's treatment of women, including his infamous "p—ssy grabbing" comments and his history of online bullying, even though she took on that very subject as an issue she would tackle as First Lady.
Melania Trump tweeted:
#IWD2018 Today we recognize, celebrate & honor women around the globe. On March 21, I will be at the @StateDept to present the #WomenOfCourage award to some extraordinary women.
And the backlash was swift:
While I’ll take you at your word that you support women, I really have to question your choice in remaining with your POS husband who’s made it quite clear that he has no respect for any woman, including you— Michael Whooley (@damedic7276) March 8, 2018
You should start looking for a house now so that you can move at the end of your son's school year. No one would blame you. Feel empowered!— Debbie 🇺🇸🌊 (@debsaok) March 8, 2018
You are the perfect example for all of our daughters out there as to what not to be when they grow up. The fact that you have a voice and don't use it, don't speak out publicly on the way your husband treats women, let alone his wife, is disgraceful.— Justin Kahn (@TheJustinKahn) March 9, 2018
Ivanka didn't fair any better. She tweeted:
Today we come together in recognition of women at home & around the globe. We celebrate women’s achievements, past & present, & pledge to empower women to reach their full economic potential for generations to come. When women thrive, we ALL succeed.

And Twitter users let her have it:
Ivanka, your hypocrisy and lack of awareness are pitiful. Save yourself and go back to New York. You just make a fool of yourself with every fake tweet about caring for women, or anybody but your money.— Brasilmagic (@Brasilmagic) March 8, 2018
You are the last person we want to come together with. You are a disgrace to women across the globe. We have real female leaders that don’t make money off the backs of the poor or defend men not worthy of being defended to look to...thanks, but save your tweets.— lisa (@educated_dem) March 8, 2018
And are you going to deliver this message to the female sweatshop workers who make your crappy clothes while getting paid starvation wages while you continue ignoring Daddy's constant and repeated disrespect and abuse and assault of women?— DuelingDogma (@duelingdogma) March 8, 2018
If only one word that came out of your mouth wasn’t BS. Please go away...just leave us in our temporary misery. It’s all going to catch up to you and your grifter Family...then we’ll send you tweets about how we’re going to allow 10 more mins of yard time for those in prison.— In Defense of Democracy (@DofDemocracy) March 8, 2018
I want to like you, I really do... but you can't act like you care about women's rights and stand by silently when your father undermines women's rights and demeans strong women leaders in the way that he does.— Ariana Jade (@anajade18) March 8, 2018
NYC billionaires for decades?— Stephen with a PH (@JSCveritas) March 8, 2018
Can you tell me what park or library or women’s shelter or Kids program is supported or endowed by The Trump Family?
Gonna need receipts 👀
PS The cancer foundation your dad steals from doesn’t count.
Sometimes the best tweet is no tweet at all.
