Trump's Religious Advisor Just Said He Should Be Forgiven For Stormy Daniels Affair

Southern Baptist pastor Robert Jeffress, an evangelical advisor to Donald Trump, appeared on a FOX news segment and said the president should be forgiven for his affair with Stormy Daniels and the following $130,000 payoff  in hush money. The reasoning behind this? According to Jeffress:

And let’s be clear — Evangelicals still believe in the commandment: Thou shalt not have sex with a porn star. However, whether this president violated that commandment or not is totally irrelevant to our support of him.

With that comment, Jeffress managed to slut-shame Daniels and absolve the "p—ssy grabber" all in one breath. But the pastor wasn't done yet. He went on to say:

[Evangelicals] knew they weren’t voting for an altar boy when they voted for Donald Trump.

That makes it okay then.

During the discussion co-guest,  journalist Juan Williams, countered that Trump supporters didn't have an opportunity to know about the affair because of the hush money given to Daniels. Williams also added:

Pastor, you cannot sell your integrity, your Christians values, and say, ‘because President Trump is anti-abortion, I’ll support him no matter what. What happened to the principles, what happened to your love of people of character?

Jeffress stated that his support of Trump would never go away, unless the president's policy changed or he was caught in an affair today.

It's safe to say, people had a few problems with this.

This meme is on the crude side but it does make a point.

People were pretty sure in order for Trump to be forgiven he needed to ask.

Jeffress still had some supporters who bought what he was selling hook, line and sinker.

Other were not taking the bait. (Yes, these are fish references, because, you know, Jesus.)
