Swedish artist Peder Norrby took to Twitter this week to show a really cool optical illusion he created only using his Iphone X.
A few days later, Norrby sent out a follow up video explaining how he created the effect.
Did you all catch that? Cause this writer has no idea what the heck he's talking about, but it sure sounds good!
Norrby was kind enough to also post a write up explaining the process.
For the rest of us regular minded folk, we can just admire the neat thingymajig he made.
Some techy-techy people understood what was happening and weighed in.
Nice effect and great work but I think it only works when you film.. When you watch the screen you can see the 3D and you see it's a video displayed by the phone in 2D. Or to have the effect and trick your mind by the illusion you have to close one eye (to see in 2D)— Samuel Leroux (@samueleroux) March 1, 2018
On the video it works because you see that through the film (you>video>phone = 3D>2D>3D effect displayed in 2D) but if you test directly with the application (you>phone=3D>3D effect in 2D) you don't see the 3D effect, your mind is able to figure out it's a screen so it's flat— Samuel Leroux (@samueleroux) March 1, 2018
Yesterday I used my smartphone to post a picture of my dog to The Facebook. That's kind of the same, right?
