It has been less than a week since seventeen students were gunned down in our country's latest mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. On Friday, President Trump visited the first responders of Wednesday's mass shooting.
The President didn't visit the school itself, perhaps because of tweets like this:
17 innocent people were brutally murdered at my school, a place where they should have felt safe. Their lives were gone in an instant. You are the President of the United States and you have the audacity to put this on Russia as an excuse. I guess I should expect that from you. https://t.co/phOg97PJoD— taylor // #NEVERAGAIN (@tayloryon_) February 18, 2018
You know what isn't acceptable? Blaming everyone but the shooter and the lack of gun control in our country. You even blamed the students. We did report him, we tried. But how were we supposed to know what would happen? Your lack of sympathy proves how pitiful of a person you are https://t.co/32L1z0hhZJ— carly (@car_nove) February 18, 2018
But the photo turned out awkward, at best:
Which prompted a rapid response of its own:
Is this for real?? My God, why are any of those people smiling??— Janet Draper (@JanetDraper3) February 17, 2018
But that's not even the most controversial part of the President's day.
According to CNN's Kevin Liptak, the President went to Mar-a-Lago and attended a Studio 54-themed disco party:
President Trump and the First Lady stopped by a Studio 54-themed disco party in the ballroom at Mar-a-Lago last night after returning from the Broward sheriff’s department— Kevin Liptak (@Kevinliptakcnn) February 17, 2018
People wondered what it would take to change Trump's supporters' minds:

People have a hard time admitting they’ve been duped...— bongmaster aka the velvet octopus (@jerweber) February 17, 2018
I know....It'll probably be years until any of them even admit to how WRONG they were this entire time— Lin Star (@LinDesigns111) February 17, 2018
Some folks noticed a parallel to another Republican President:
a friend’s Pop, until he died, always insisted that nixon was framed & completely blameless. he wasn’t the only one— J. McCavendish (@limitlesskait) February 17, 2018
I was going to say this...I don’t know if my 80 year old Deep South Fox loving dad believes Nixon did anything wrong but he doesn’t care & thinks he got a raw deal. Slate has a free pod cast about Watergate called Slow Burn, the parallels are unbelievable— expletive deleted (@Landongsmith) February 18, 2018
The same people that thought, and still think, that Nixon was innocent are the same people that support Trump. It’s 35-40% that aren’t living in the same reality based society that the rest of us live in. History is not on their side.— bongmaster aka the velvet octopus (@jerweber) February 18, 2018
But mostly, people just wondered if the President has a heart:

I know he lacks a conscience, but does he even have a soul???
It’s called empathy...Trump is not capable of expressing any. 😟 sad— Kristin Strauss (@kiss589) February 18, 2018
