Don't expect actor and activist Mark Ruffalo to keep quiet anytime soon. In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Ruffalo took on critics who think celebrities should "shut up" when it comes to politics.
He had this to say about Donald Trump:
The president right now is a reality TV star. I think that artists in general have quite a bit to say about culture and life. The kind of beautiful thing about being an actor is you get to see a lot of different aspects of life, peoples life.
On January 29, Ruffalo will speak at the People's State of the Union, and Twitter users don't want him silenced.
Why would he? Celebs vote and pay taxes like any other job. Who can't talk next, police? Doctors? Plumbers? They can say what they like. Nobody whines when pro Trump celebs chime in— Greg Zeppelin (@Harleydadd) January 29, 2018
Very grateful to him and all the actors who actually stand up for the 🇺🇸 people and what's right! Most actors just bow down to the almighty dollar. He's a REAL 🌟— HAPPY 2018! ❤️🕊 Ⓥ LOVE IS STRONG! TAKE BACK 🇺🇸 (@InLWithLBeingL) January 29, 2018
In a head scratching twist, Trump supporters want celebrities to stay out of politics. Perhaps they can take that message to the White House?
And I have no plans to listen to Mark Ruffalo or any of his celebrity friends talk about politics. Nobody really takes actors and actresses seriously. You never know when they’re in character. Unless you count TDS as they’re character, then again, that’s a mental issue.— COVFEFE WHITE GIRL (@CLK54321) January 29, 2018
The president first and foremost is an American, he is a business man second— Randy Bowen🇺🇸 (@Damnoldguy) January 29, 2018
Not saying actors shouldn't stay out of politics. Just saying they should keep it out of their work. They risk losing lots of $$$ by mixing the two. And the President is NOT a reality TV star. He's the President of the United States. You guys are mocking him as a reality TV star.— Abknowrmal Clown (@AbknowrmalClown) January 29, 2018
We'll just leave this here.
People are tired of hypocrites criticizing celebrities while celebrating a trust fund man claiming to be a voice for the working class.
he is 100% right here. you can't support trump and then blast celebrities for having an opinion when trump himself is a celebrity. sorry, doesn't work that way— michael trulsen (@MTrulsen) January 29, 2018
Ruffalo spoke on other important topics.
Keep speaking out!
