The White House has revamped the official webpage and people are not happy. The new version of the website is harder to navigate and it seems many issues important to the public, like climate change and LGBT rights require searching to find.
Other topics that are higher on Donald Trump's agenda, such as the economy, national security, and immigration take prominent places on the homepage. When it comes to healthcare, the White House website spends all its time disparaging the ACA (Obamacare) and sounds more like a press release given during a campaign, not an official statement from the government.
Another aspect of the site people are finding difficult to navigate are the live video press briefings. One needs to click on the top right menu, the find "About The White House," from there scroll to the bottom of the page and eventually click the "live" button.
An official from the White House said:
"The old site was a good temporary measure that allowed us to use what the previous administration had built, but it wasn't where it needed to be in terms of providing people with content they can easily access. We will save taxpayers almost $3 million per year as a result of the redesigned site. The President is focused on making smart use of taxpayer dollars and we thought that the previous site was, frankly, costing far too much."
People are feeling this is one more step the Trump administration is taking to keep the workings of the White House shrouded in secrecy.
The White House website has been transformed completely into a pure propaganda operation. Instead of news, briefings, and speeches, we get campaign-style "issues" at the top.— The Rude Pundit (@rudepundit) December 16, 2017
In addition to the reworking of the website, the Trump administration has removed completely the Spanish language version.
Sadly, people weren't too surprised.
