President Trump is no stranger to criticism, but Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has offered some of the harshest words yet about our commander-in-chief from an elected official. On Wednesday, November 22nd, the Mayor went off-script during a speech at Philadelphia's City Hall and made some memorable statements:
I’m just beside myself with with sadness because our president is a bully, our president is a punk and he just doesn’t get it. I don’t know where he was raised, but his family didn’t do a good job raising that guy.
He also said Trump was "the reason" our country has become one of "anger and divisiveness."
"This country used to be a country of compassion and empathy. It is now a country of anger and divisiveness, and Donald Trump is the reason why we’ve gotten where we are." -- Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney— Scott Weinberg (@scottEweinberg) November 23, 2017
Kenney was responding to the White House's decision to end temporary protected status for Haitians by July 2019. After a devastating hurricane hit Haiti in 2010, Haitian's have been granted the right to live and work in the U.S. without fear of deportation. This change, however, would force 59,000 to either become citizens, leave the country, or remain in the U.S. illegally.
Thanks Jim Kenney for not holding back on what most Americans and Europeans think of this joke of a president!— Mike Vanriel (@MikeVanriel2) November 23, 2017
To those who don't know who Jim Kenney is, He is the mayor of Philadelphia.
The immigrant community in Philadelphia is praising Kenney's words. As the Trump Presidency continues, it seems statements like these are becoming more and more likely. We can also look forward to President Trump's inevitable response on Twitter - whatever it is, I'm sure it will be understanding and well-said.
ObamaCare premiums are going up, up, up, just as I have been predicting for two years. ObamaCare is OWNED by the Democrats, and it is a disaster. But do not worry. Even though the Dems want to Obstruct, we will Repeal & Replace right after Tax Cuts!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 23, 2017
