Rex Tillerson Threatened To Resign From White House, Called Trump A 'Moron'

In an administration that has seen key members dropping like flies in recent months, there was one close call that could've topped them all.

Several members of Trump's senior administration have confirmed that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was on the verge of resigning over the summer due to policy disputes and clashes with President Trump.

NBC News is reporting that a few days before Trump's speech to the Boy Scouts of America (an organization Tillerson used to run), Tillerson called Trump a "moron" during a July 20 meeting between national security and Cabinet officials held at the Pentagon.

Things reportedly got bad enough that Vice President Mike Pence even had to have an intervention of sorts to help Tillerson find ways to ease tensions with Trump, while other administration officials pleaded with Tillerson to stay on at least until the end of the year, fearing the fallout from yet another high-profile departure.

Naturally, both Tillerson and Trump have denied any such scandal. On Wednesday, Tillerson told reporters, "I have never considered leaving this post," adding that he's committed to being part of the team attempting to "make America great again." He didn't, however, deny calling Trump a "moron," instead telling reporters, "I'm not going to deal with petty stuff like that." Meanwhile, Trump told reporters in Las Vegas, "I am very honored by his comments, it was fake news, it was a totally phony story."

But with Trump recently chastising Tillerson for his handling of North Korea, all may not be as peachy as they would have us believe.

Tillerson has reportedly been unhappy with the White House's meddling in his affairs with North Korea. President Trump even tweeted out on Sunday: "I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man..." A second tweet finished: "...Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!" The tweets directly contradicted Tillerson's assertion that the U.S. was in diplomatic negotiations with North Korea.

Twitter just added it to the laundry list of scandals that the Trump administration has been caught up in:

Did Tillerson call Trump a "moron?" We may never truly know the answer:

As for those unnamed White House officials, we have our guesses as to who leaked the information:
