While dressed to the nines, the current first lady hosted a group of young volunteers to harvest the vegetable garden Michelle Obama planted in the South Lawn in 2009. The garden was instrumental to ignite the former First Lady's healthy eating initiative.
Before strolling through the garden the newest First Lady, also a former fashion model, told the crowd: "I’m a big believer in healthy eating. I encourage you to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. It is part of healthy living.”
Many praised the First Lady for continuing a truly great program.
Good for her, she is picking where Michelle Obama left off. Healthy eating for kids.— Rod O (@rodob) September 22, 2017
However some felt Mrs. Trump was merely recycling the former FLOTUS' initiative.
FLOTUS hosted 10 children in the garden, a much smaller gathering than Obama often welcomed, but her event, in humid temps, felt much like the garden events of the past, with White House chefs and National Park Service staff members on hand. “They are cooking delicious food and they are using these vegetables as well,” she said, introducing the chefs.
Healthy eating is what will save out futures; no matter the administration, can't we do this together?
